Tim Styer

President & CEO | Ride to Work

"The best any city can do for the business community is to create an environment for business to thrive, including being able to attract opportunities."
Stakeholder Spotlight

Tim Styer, a lifelong Philadelphian with more than 35 years of experience as a business and community leader, is always looking for ways he can help make things better for his neighbors and city.

Tim is President and CEO of Ride to Work, a group helping businesses recruit, transport, and retain local talent. Ride to Work is Tim’s second business and his desire to support his community has fueled the company’s work since it began in 2020.

Tim identified that even with established pipelines to employment, a lack of reliable transportation can ruin that opportunity. With the belief that one of the main things a company should do is produce equity, Ride to Work’s central mission is to connect people from marginalized backgrounds to better paying jobs.

Ride to Work provides an innovative approach to workforce logistics, including ridesharing and shuttle services. Over the years, Ride to Work has expanded its role and is now also able to look at the needs of employers; namely finding, preparing, and retaining talent.

A City Focus

Tim believes the best any city can do for the business community is to create an environment for business to thrive, including being able to attract opportunities. He feels Philadelphia has always been a natural fit for the type of work that he does and has noticed a welcome increase in local business opportunities.

Collaborating with the IGC

It was important for Tim to become a member of the Inclusive Growth Coalition (IGC) because he has seen Philadelphia’s evolution and wants to be a part of its future direction.

Through collaboration with the IGC, Tim is doing the work to help create a more inclusive environment for all businesses by breaking down silos to encourage collaboration. Tim is looking to the Mayor and City Council to improve Philadelphia’s safety, appearance, tax environment, education system, and the affordability to live and do business.
