Stakeholder Spotlight
Founded by Drexel University graduates Lawrence James and Christopher Holland, Connexus provides organizations with Digital Transformation services and IT Staff Augmentation services in the areas of IT Infrastructure and Enterprise Data Management.
Making it easier to do business
Lawrence James says Philadelphia is a diverse and accessible city that allows businesses to “get the right people, to get things done,” but he feels critical work needs to be done.
To foster a more inclusive business environment, Lawrence encourages city leaders to remove red tape and make it easier to start and scale a business in Philadelphia. This can include streamlining processes, such as invoicing and payment for city vendors as well as the permit and licensing processes for small businesses.
Lawrence says tax reform, in the form of the reduction or elimination of the city’s Business Income & Receipts Tax, would also allow Connexus to expand its physical footprint, hire more local talent, and have more resources to train talent so they are better equipped for today's jobs and technologies.
When the community comes together to help improve the city, he says, Philadelphia will be more vibrant and safer.
