With tougher enforcement, Philly retail theft arrests nearly triple

A recent Philadelphia Inquirer report found that retail theft arrests in the city have nearly tripled in 2024 because of stepped-up enforcement – already exceeding the total in 2022 and 2021 combined. 

We applaud Mayor Parker, the Police Department, and D.A. Larry Krasner for this tougher stance on retail theft. Philadelphia business owners have long said that retail theft is a persistent problem that shows no sign of letting up.
